Who We are
Meet the visionaries behind the guild
Alan ocheltreeBest Door & WindowAlan was born and raised in Ohio in a small rural community located between Columbus and Cleveland. His parents were small business owners, so entrepreneurship is in his DNA. Although Alan did not begin his entrepreneurial endeavors in earnest until later in life, he always had a passion for business and a strong desire to lead an organization of his own. Alan purchased Best Door & Window in 2021 from the company’s founder, and he was proud to continue the company’s strong legacy of customer service and excellence in the communities it served for over 25 years.
Since purchasing Best Door & Window, Alan has greatly enjoyed the opportunity to positively impact the lives of customers through transforming and improving their homes and businesses. “It is a real honor to be entrusted with a customer’s home or business.” Prior to joining Best Door & Window, Alan worked in various roles in the finance departments of several large corporations in the Columbus, Ohio area. Alan is a college graduate with undergraduate and graduate degrees, including in Business Administration. Alan has been married to his wife for over twenty years and has two children, and a dog named “Prince,” who was added to the family from a local shelter. In his free time, Alan enjoys spending time outdoors, exercising, attending his children’s soccer matches, and playing fetch with the family dog. He’s a lifelong student of martial arts and continues to learn and practice when he can. |
Zach Kidder5 Points ContractingZach has called Logan County, Ohio home since 2012. His journey in the trades and home services industry began at the young age of 15, starting with mowing lawns and basic landscaping before moving into the floor covering industry. In 2019, he officially launched his own business, 5 Points Contracting, with a vision to raise the bar in construction and renovation services.
By 2022, Zach had started hiring employees but found himself unprepared for the challenges of running a growing business. By the end of that year, he faced the brink of losing everything he had built. Determined to rebuild, Zach restructured and refocused, and by the close of 2023, 5 Points Contracting had made a remarkable comeback, exceeding both its top and bottom lines from all previous years. Today, 5 Points Contracting employs a team of nine full-time professionals and remains steadfast in its mission to elevate the standards of construction and remodeling. This journey ignited a passion in Zach to help other contractors, tradespeople, and business owners avoid the pitfalls he experienced and equip them to run their businesses more effectively. Motivated by this mission, Zach partnered with Alan and Devin to co-found The Guild in 2025—a network dedicated to improving the lives of contractors, their employees, and the communities they serve. Zach married his wife, Jocelynn, in 2021. She has been his constant encourager and voice of reason through all his endeavors. They live in DeGraff, Ohio, with their two dogs, Penny and Willow. Zach and Jocelynn are active members of Redemption Bible Church in Bellefontaine and share a deep commitment to uplifting and serving others. |

Devin DurbinThe Durbin Compound Renovation & RepairDevin goes by his last name “Durbin” because he has spent the majority of his adult life in the Marine Corps. He joined the Marine Corps in 2005 and served for many years as an Aviation Electrician working on the AV8-B Harrier. Through his career, he has spent over 2.5 years at sea on ship and multiple deployments around the world to 23 countries. The Marine Corps also brought Durbin to Bellefontaine, where he spent many years recruiting the local youth to serve their country.
The Durbin Compound was founded as a YouTube channel in 2014 when Durbin was asked how to change a dryer cord and decided to make a video instead of drawing it out. That video evolved into a YouTube channel with over 42,000 subscribers and over 350 videos available to anyone that searches. Durbin had always been a handyman & jack of all trades, establishing his first paid customer in June of 2014. Working in the evenings and on the weekends, he continued to gain traction. Durbin decided to quit his job in Facilities Maintenance and take his dream full time. When it was time to officially name his renovation business, why not use the name of an already established fan base and hoards of clothes with logos all over them. The Durbin Compound Renovation & Repair has celebrated 10 years in business and now has a customer base of over 500 customers across Central Ohio. In 2025, The Durbin Compound will celebrate opening the area's first Kitchen & Bath showroom and expand their ability to help more customers with their Kitchen & Bath needs. |
